Day 6 - Maine and Rest!

Today we drove from Brattleboro, VT across New Hampshire to Portland, Maine.  This was an easy driving day, around 3 1/2 hours. Drew made some phone calls about lobster prices and found an affordable restaurant, the Lobster Shack, just south of Portland in Cape Elizabeth.

The boys pigged out on fresh lobster!  They each bought a lobster dinner and added an extra lobster.  The Lobster Shack cooks them to order, so everything was hot and fresh.  I had a lobster roll basket and clam chowder, which were also really good.  Andy has always wanted to eat lobster in Maine, so he got to cross this one off his Bucket List.

The beach at Cape Elizabeth was rocky but we were able to walk down to the water.  The girls played by the ocean while the boys finished their lobsters.  The water is cold here.

We drove up to Portland and checked into the motel, then relaxed at the motel while the kids swam.  I was able to get a much-needed nap while Andy did laundry - impressive, I know!  Tomorrow will take us to Lexington, Massachusetts for two nights.  We plan to stop in Salem and at some battle sites on the way.
