Spring Skirts for Mama

I was inspired by Sew, Mama, Sew's spring skirt tutorials and finally made the time to sew up two skirts for myself. My absolute favorite is the blue twirly skirt. I've been seeing some little girl skirts like this and found an adult patten on sale for $1.99 and snatched it up! (Butterick B5042) It took about 4 hours from start to finish, but I struggled with the zipper and waistband and went over the top with a lace trim. Next time I think I'll skip the zipper and use elastic at the waist and skip the lace. Yes, that is a close-up of my rear to show the zipper and no I'm not pregnant.

The ruffle skirt was from the Fast and Cheap tutorial. The fabric is from a thrifted sheet. I loved this sheet because of the big ruffle at the bottom. This one was really easy and fast...20 minutes from cut to finish! I didn't get a great picture of this skirt, but would like to show off my custom labels made by Jennifer's Jewels on Etsy.
